All my files are corrupt

Post by sadcry »

Hi everyone, I’ve been using OpenOffice for years but this is my first post on the forum. Basically, I’ve been using OpenOffice as I normally do which is pretty much just documents (essays) but all of a sudden, my files won’t save onto my hard drive saying ‘general error/input-output error’ but they save onto my USB, so I think it’s because I’ve run out of storage space on my laptop. However, when I try to open them even through my USB it comes up with the recovery window but when I click ‘start recovery’ it says the files are corrupt and therefore can’t be recovered and a blank document just opens. I don’t know why this is suddenly happening years after me using OpenOffice and I can’t afford to deal with this once my really uni assignments start coming in. Any advice? Why are my files suddenly corrupt?

Probably this problem is related to a Windows update.
Try the LibreOffice on Windows 10.

For the record, never access files on a USB stick directly from OpenOffice. Any issue will lead to the loss of the file.

See the tutorial on problems saving files to disk caused by Windows Defender under Windows 10 and how to fix it.

Your files are not corrupt. Upload one here so it can be analysed.
