OpenOffice 3.1 Windows
First please upgrade your software and/or update your signature in this forum. Nobody will fix the bugs of a such old version.

Do you mean the .~lock.Filename... files in the directory? Try to delete it. If the document file is not damaged or destroyed at an irregular shutting down of the PC, then it will work.

Tip for the future:
Always create more than one backup copy of your important documents

Please, edit the initial post in the topic: add the word [Solved] at the beginning of the subject line - if your problem has been solved.

Do as Zizi64 says; to see the lock file you may need to enable viewing of hidden and system files on your operating system. It may also be that there is another (also hidden) lock file in the root of your OO user profile. See [Tutorial] The OpenOffice User Profile for details of the User profile.
