Why is there no "Recent files" option on opening
LibreOffice and much other software has it?
Openoffice 4.1.6 on Windows 7

/File /Recent Documents
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 20.04.1 (mostly 64 bit version) and very infrequently on Win2K/XP

Yes for a simple list of files.
Libre Office offers a much more helpful series of thumbnails.
Openoffice 4.1.6 on Windows 7

AOO 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 20.04 and 4.1.5 on Windows 10 (with winPenPack port).

Because Open Office hasn't had a major feature update since 2013(?) and is essentially a dead project that the apache foundation keeps running for god knows why. It's zombie software.
