OO Files not Saving

Post by philip.else »

Hiya gang, first timer here.

Writer and Calc files are not saving either from SaveAs or Export to PDF (clicking these gets no response at all) or closing down (I get the save/discard/cancel option, but clicking save, nothing happens are returns to document).

This is just on my dad's Win 10 laptop, not on my own Win 7 laptop.

So I'm assuming its a bloody Windows update issue lol, but how do I fix it?

Regards

Probably a Windows Defender issue; can a file be saved to the Desktop (as a diagnostic)? If one rightclicks on OpenOffice and selects "Run as Administrator" can a file now be saved?

I'm not a current Windows user, so the above are merely questions I know more experienced users of current Windows versions will require to be answered.

Thanks. I have checked and Windows Defender does not seem to be operational as I deactivated in favour of Avira, but will try try that suggestion and see how it flys.

Disconnect from Internet (for safety; easiest to turn off the router) and try with no virus checker or firewall. If that works ok for saving, then you know it is the virsuschecker/firewall settings.

See the Tutorial about Windows Defender.
LO 6.4.4.2, Windows 10 Home 64 bit

See the Writer Guide, the Writer FAQ, the Writer Tutorials and Writer for students.

Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.
