Finding Microsoft works documents

I just downloaded OpenOffice Writer to my Mac. I have Microsoft Works word documents in documents, but cannot figure out how to open them in OpenOffice Writer. I open Writer and click documents but nothing is there.

Writer doesn't have support for MS Works documents - see this article in the OpenOffice Wiki.

Try the LibreOffice. It can open the .wps files.

But always store your importand documents into the native, international standard ODF (Open Document Format) file formats if you want to work efficiently with the AOO / LO.
