Unable To Load Document When Another One Is Loaded

Hi I am having an issue with OO and it's not have been happening. When I try to load up a document, it is successful. When I try to open up another OO document, it takes forever to load and I get a grey background and nothing loading at the bottom. Then I click on the window, it now says not responding and I get this stupid error message that pops up. What do I do? How can I be able to open multiple documents without having to go through this? This is driving me crazy!

Does it occur with the same documents or with any? Can you create 2 documents (one after the other) and then try to open them?
As a fist step, you can try to reset your OpenOffice user profile.

Also, what memory have you on your computer? Have you many other tasks running at the time of attempting to open the second file?

Ok update: I created 2 docs and then reopened them without any problems. I guess the 1 doc I had an issue with was a spreadsheet, it was giving me issues. I am wondering why it does that.

What happens if you reverse the order - load the second document first, give it time to stabilise (recalculate - this can take some time, depending on the complexity of the document) then load the other document?

I have tried that and it gives me grey screen again. When I keep clicking on it, I get the above message.

No. I just have my vpn on and my windows explorer up. That's it. But that shouldn't affect that because I am able to open the same docs on another pc. Maybe it's this being a tablet pc. But this is the first time going through this.

Weird indeed.
Do you save in native format (.ods for spreadsheet)?
Any specific content like huge pictures?

Were I faced with such a problem, I would use some form of system monitor to inspect memory usage. It is not unusual for an instance of OO using a single spreadsheet or document to use 1 GB or more of memory. With a browser, a VPN and two instances of OO on a tablet, you might be running into memory starvation.
