Where is recovered file?

Post by box1088 »

I supposedly recovered a file after program crashed but I cannot find it anywhere. Not in Trash or anywhere I can think of.

After a file has been recovered OO should open it and you should have Saved it at that stage. If the file had never been saved it will be called Untitled1.

Use your operating system's search facility to seek files of type .odt (or as appropriate) and examine files of the correct type and about the correct date.

Assume you are editing C:\Users\xxxxxx\Documents\Fred.odt.

Before recovery it is C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Roaming\OpenOffice\4\user\backup\fred.odt_0.odt

After recovery, the before file is deleted, and the recovered file is opened as fred.odt, waiting for you to save it.

See the Writer Guide, the Writer FAQ, the Writer Tutorials and Writer for students.

Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.
