I have 4.0 and can't download the update. Message says it's not available.
For a while 4.0 writer has been acting up: I create a document and save in .rtf yet when I open it again it's in wordpad format.

You can download the latest AOO 4.1.5 or the LibreOffice 6.1.1 Fresh or the LibreOffice 6.0.6 Still version from the official downloading pages.

Always edit and store your important documents in the native, international Standard ODF fileformats: .odt, .ods ...
You always will loose some formatting property, when you save the document into the foreign, never standardized fileformats.

If you open your file with a double-click, the file association may launch Wordpad because it has been configured that way. Change the file association and it will open in AOO. But beware, the RTF support is quite poor with AOO.

Please add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.
