[Solved] AOO file/open locks up

Searched for this and found lots of answers but none that helped me.

Clicking file/open causes AOO (Writer in particular) to lock up. Can only be shut down via task manager. Libre Office had the same problem.

Solution in my case: Uninstall Webroot Secure Anywhere. (I even created a new user account for AOO, didn't work.)

I'm a managed service provider and and I typically install Webroot with my RMM software. In one customer's case, they used AOO. After installing Webroot, AOO Writer would start up and I could navigate through all of the menus. The instant I clicked on file/open or file/save(as), it would lock up (Libre Office did the same thing to make me think the problem was not entirely with AOO).

I uninstalled Webroot Secure Anywhere and AOO worked as expected.

I have submitted a support ticket to Webroot.
