[Solved] Documents have disappeared

I went to open a document that I saved as a PDF, and after being asked to select ASCII filter options, find that

is all that remains of my report on hiatal hernias. This is what happens with every other document that I saved while taking an anatomy class. Can anyone provide any insight?

You should not be using OpenOffice to open PDF documents. Use a dedicated PDF reader, such as Adobe Reader or whatever other application is installed on Windows 10 as the default PDF reading application. If you must (not recommended) use OO as a PDF reader, you need to install the PDF import extension at PDF Import for Apache OpenOffice
