Text import
All of my Apache Open office files are working except for one. It is coming up asking for text import - character set. I have tried everything and it opens but none of my context is there. What do I need to do?

Your file is damaged - experience shows there will be no content. Read this tutorial

It also works for spreadsheets. If that is no help, download PhotoRec and let it undelete temporary files, which you will need to rename to .odt (or the type of your lost file). You may or may not recover something. The sooner you do this the better chance of recovering something.
