UNDO or any prior copies saved

Post by lightfoot500 »

hi,
had to shut down my computer last night. when i rebooted , the second page of a document i had been working on was gone.
it was only two pages, and the first page was intact.
i am not sure exactly what happened, there were two other documents that had to be "restored" after the reboot,
is there no other past editions of documents saved that can be retreived when something like this happens ?
or is there a way to set it up to save a past version ?
thanks.

What is the timestamp of the file? Does it show a last save at the correct time you last saved it?
You can try to check the backup folder in your user profile: [Tutorial] The OpenOffice User Profile.

It may be an issue with the OS that cached the saved file but hadn't time to eventually write it on HD for some reason.

See [Tutorial] How to find and un-delete Writer temporary files for

a) detailed instructions on how to recover your file as it was when you last opened or saved it, or as it was when it was last saved with AutoRecovery.

b) how to find previous versions of the file in the folder it is located in, but which have since been deleted.

c) how to un-delete the temporary files Writer wrote while you were editing the file, and then deleted. This will recover your file as it was when you last opened or you last saved it and is probably your best hope.
