Within OpenOffice, does /File /Open work? If so, set a File Association to tell your operating system to use OO as the default program to open such report files.

Can you generate a "nonsense" report, that is a non-confidential report and upload it here or to a file hosting site. It would help the people here get a feel for the file format.

There is an upload tab at the bottom of the Reply and Quote windows. Max upload file size is 128K, For anything larger something like Mediafire or DropBox is useful.
