Stop moving text with cursor

Post by JLD »

open office 4.1.1 w8.1
There seems to be a default in open office that sometimes causes highlighted text to get dragged to a new area with the mouse. Is there a setting to stop this behavior permanently?

Make sure your fingers are not touching the mouse buttons = some mouse buttons can be very sensitive.

That's not quite what i mean. I may want to select a word, or a part of a sentence. I just dont don't want to be able to drag or move it with the mouse. (I would be selecting to use a function or maybe over-type).

If you're wanting to disable the standard drag and drop, there is no option for this in OpenOffice.

For information on how AOO implements drag and drop, open the offline Help - F1 - and search drag. In particular, you may find this part helpful:
You can cancel a drag-and-drop operation in OpenOffice at any time by pressing the Esc key before releasing the mouse button.

thanks to both. I wouldve preferred disabling a service/option that only causes issues for me, but if it cant be done, it cant.
