odt files will not open

My newly installed Open Office 4.1.5 will not open .odt files. My old Open Office 4.1.3 did open the same files.
What is different? What must I do to open my .odt files?
I am using a Windows 8 system.

How are you trying to open them? By double clicking on the .odt files? Try starting OpenOffice from the Program button and using /File /Open; navigate to the target file using the navigation button of the /File /Open window. Select the target file and click OK. Does it open then?

The button, usually on bottom left of your Win 8 screen, that allows starting any program.

I think you mean the "Start" button although I don't recall if that button is on Windows 8.

Probably, Bill. It is so long since I've used Windows (last was XP).
