I often open & edit documents, then close and delete the doc from my folder.

The document continues to shows up on my "Recent documents" until it finally drops out the bottom.

Is there a way to remove deleted doc from that drop down?

Look at the very bottom of the list of recent files ...

You cannot remove just one - it's all or none (unless you fancy editing registrymodifications.xcu, which is not a supported method).
