Setting OO as Default for BOX Storage App

Post by Dangerfielda »

I use BOX (not Dropbox, but similar) for my job. I haven't been able to find a place to set OO as the default program to open documents from BOX when I need to edit them on my computer. Excel files open but I can't edit them. Word files open in TextEditor which is not very helpful. I'm a new Mac user, so I'm not especially savvy with the tech. Also, it would be helpful to know if I can sync Box to my desktop (I was able to with my old PC, but haven't figured out how to with my new Mac). That might solve the first problem of not being able to get the documents to open in OO.

OpenOffice does not create any read-only files.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

Right. The documents I'm downloading from BOX aren't opening in OO at all.

To open a file right click on it, move curser to "Open with", then click on OpenOffice.app

To set file associations to always open a specific document type with OpenOffice see this post:
