Apache OpenOffice 4.1.5 won't install

Tried to install upgrade to 4.1.5 twice and received error message could not install. Suggestions?
Have been using 4.1.4

Why would it not install? What was the remainder of the error message?

Did the error message say anything other than "can't install"? Please provide the exact text. Did you start the download from http://www.openoffice.org?

I have similar problem.

was using 4.1.4.
it stopped working.

downloaded 4.1.5.
installation started, then stopped.
message on screen: 'quickstart must be disabled'.

openoffice website instructs method to disable.
my problem is that there is no quickstart icon on my system tray.

can I access quickstart another way to disable it so that the installation can be completed ?

any ideas would be appreciated.

Start TaskManager (Ctrl Shift ESc) and kill any soffice or openoffice processes shown on TM's tabs; then exit TM and try and install (without restarting Windows)

there are no soffice or openoffice processes on task manager to be deleted

Having same installation problem. Tried to install OpenOffice 4.1.5. Said need to close Dish Anywhere, but app wasn't open. Closed browser and now can't access OpenOffice at all.

Please post exact error message. Describing an error message is almost useless for serious troubleshooting.

I have this same problem. After clicking to start the install, I get a popup message (first message attached)

. When I click on OK for that, I get the second screen attached.

I checked to see what processes are active, and there is no Apache OpenOffice process running, and this is on my personal computer, not a networked computer, so no one else is using OpenOffice.

Follow-up to this: I did a shutdown, waited a couple of minutes, powered back up, and tried the installation again, and it worked.

I had Open Office 4.1.3 for some time, and its icon disappeared after a Feb 28 Windows update. Tried to open it through program manager, and it says it is searching for swriter.exe. It never finds it and a search yields no results. I decided to D/L 4.1.5 but after closing the wizard, which says it has installed 4.1.5 successfully, there is no evidence of the program in either program files or a search for a file. I made sure to disable anti-virus prior to the download and install process as well.
