Nearly all of my text is red underlined with Auto Spell Check on. How do I fix it? Windows 10, OpenOffice 4.1.4

Rename your OO user profile.
As your Forum .sig says you are using Windows s close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File
Explorer. Copy and paste %appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer (sometimes called Windows Explorer)
Address Bar and press Enter. Rename the "user" folder - "user.old" is a good choice. Start OpenOffice.
This cures almost all spellcheck problems.

If the resetting of the User profile will not help (described above), then you need check,Nearly all of my text is red underlined
- if the paragraphs (or the paragraph styles) have a Language property,
- if the assigned specific language has language tool in your AOO.
