How do I replace the Standard dictionary with OO supplie one

Post by Phil56 »

I have added numerous wrongly spelt words to my Standard dictionary - too many to remember.

Is it possible to replace this dictionary with the OO supplied one without re-installing the full program?

I am using AOO 4.1.3 in Windows 7

If you download the English dictionary from here
https://extensions.openoffice.org/en/pr ... openoffice
and install it by double clicking on the downloaded file, it will replace your existing English dictionary.

If you are talking about adding words to standard.dic when you click Add in the spell check process, it is separate from the AOO English dictionary, so updating the AOO dictionary as RoryOF mentions will not replace your customised standard.dic

Do you want to modify the entries in your standard.dic ?

Note that in /Tools /Options /Language Settings /Writing aids you can click on a dictionary and edit it by deleting unwanted words.

The file is C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Roaming\OpenOffice\4\user\wordbook\standard.dic. You can edit it with Notepad. Be sure to maintain the format of the file.
