Only able to type one letter at a time
Only able to type one letter at a time
I have recently started using OpenOffice again for schoolwork and whenever I type a letter or space, it acts as if I pressed the enter key and it messes up the layout.

You should start by deleting or renaming your OO user profile. As you are using Windows close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File
Explorer. Copy and paste %appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer (sometimes called Windows Explorer)
Address Bar and press Enter. Rename the "user" folder - "user.old" is a good choice. Start OpenOffice.

I tried renaming the user folder, but that didn't work. I also tried reinstalling and it is still having the issue.

After you renamed the User Profile were you prompted for your name/initials on next startup of OpenOffice?

To get this clear: when you type something, does the cursor move to the next line?

Yes, and it deletes text that was after it/in the line it skips to.

In the middle of the Status bar (bottom bar of OO Window) do you see the letters INSRT or OVR? If OVR, click on that box and it should change to INSRT (Or press the Insert key). Does that change the overwrite of the characters previously on the line?
