[Closed] Spreadsheet missing

I have a prettlarge spreadsheet that is updated twice a week with another page. Printed out my last update Friday and I go to update it today and the file is completely missing. Can't find it on my computer anywhere. Has this occured to other users before? Were you able to recover it? How?

Welcome to the community forum—sorry you're having trouble.

We do get reports of files getting damaged, but I can't remember anyone finding that a file had completely disappeared.

Your best bet may be to look for a copy among Calc's temporary files; at least this sometimes works for OO Writer files. Here are some instructions for OO Writer; maybe you can adapt them to check for a Calc temp file: viewtopic.php?f=71&t=85038

If you try to open it from the AOO recent files list, what does it tell?
Can you see the whole path of that file in the list?

It isn't in the recent files list. The list was wiped out too. Forgot to mention that but the other spreadsheets I use are in a file folder where I also kept the missing one It appears that the one I am looking for is the only one missing.

AOO cannot delete a file, it does not have such a "feature'. Only a file explorer can do that.

A file manager, such as Windows Explorer, is what Hagar is talking about.

That would be an operator driven error which I didn't do so yes, AOO apparently does delete files. No matter, I've spent many man hours re-inputting the most recent 550 line several columns wide of store inventory and will spend countless hours doing a hard inventory to make sure everything is correct. I can't recover January through July but that won't matter. Hope the IRS wont care. I now see the value of spending money on something like Microsoft Office and more specifically Excel. It is the old addage you get what you paid for and I just paid a costly price for mistake using inferior free software. But thanks for the help. We tried.
