Recent document list per application

Post by alex4orly »

I have just joined OpenOffice (Moved after many years of MS office) and am learning the new tricks.

One thing I am not comfortable with is - why when I am in Writer or in Calc and look the the "Recently visited" I get to see irrelevant files in the list:
1) No point to show me text documents while in Calc
2) Nor is there a point to show me spreadsheets while in Writer

Is there somewhere in a global setup to set a file association to stop that? Or maybe an add-on / extension?

Cheers
Alex

The Recent Documents list is merely that - a list of the last ten documents edited, shown in all OpenOffice applications. OpenOffice doesn't narrow these down to the application you are currently using.

Thanks RoryOF,

So be it, I bumped into another issue:

A document I have .doc from Word, is treated as read only for some reason and I can't modify it
Evene after saving-as another document, the new .doc is again Read-Only...

Why?

you may get some help in the document linked off this thread
RFC for read-only tutorial

Note: that document is in preparation (RFC = Request For Comments) and has not yet reached its final form; to best of my knowledge it does not contain any misleading information.

Thanks RoryOF

I read the document and if I understand it correctly, due to the document being password protected
It seems each time I need to change it, I need to save it as some other name, modify it, then protect it again.
Is this the case?
