Files missing after system restore

Post by CurlyKaren »

Hello all!
I have a new laptop which I loaded OO on to and had some documents saved on it. I had a problem with the laptop and took it back to the store where they subsequently performed a system restart and wiped all my stuff. I have reinstalled OO but my documents aren't here! ... Is there a way to retrieve them? Literally hours of work went into them :( ...Everything is currently crossed!!!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Ask the store if they made a backup of your data or if they are on a separate partition.
If not, then, it's a huge mistake from them. They should at least have warned you about what they were about to do and the consequences.

Else, I fear there is nothing to do.

Thank you for taking the time to reply ... No back up was made as far as i'm aware - I will check though. What is a partition? I have never heard the term before!
