Snowbirds Nightmare

Post by drgolf »

Running Windows 10 and enjoy and have no problems with OpenOffice. However, when I go South for the winter with my laptop I incur problems.
My laptop runs Windows 10 and prior to leaving home I transfer my spreadsheet to a thumb drive. Upon arrival, I try opening my spreadsheet on my laptop and get messages that I do not have admin right to edit or change the file. My workaround is to resave the file with a different name and deal with the problem upon my return to the tundra. Can anyone tell me a fix for this problem? Thanks for any assistance you can offer.
Regards and thank you

Check that there is no hidden file in the USB of form

Code: Select all

.~lock.file_name.ods#
if there is, delete it.
Note: such lock files are much smaller than the owning. Don't delete the wrong file.
