Corrupted file after updating version

Postby jduart » Sun Oct 09, 2016 11:44 am

Hi everyone,
I have been working for several weeks on a Writer file..yesterday morning I was asked to update from version 4.1 to 4.1.1 (with the file saved), and since then unable to get the file right, when I try to open it I'm asked ASCII option filters, and the only thing I get is a 50 pages file full of #.. any idea on how to get my work back? I have tried to look for it the backup section, but nothing available..it's a bit frustrating as I was supposed to hand over this file several days ago, and now everything is gone!
I would appreciate anyone who could give a hand on this.
Most gratefully,
Javier

Hi and welcome to the forum!

The problem is not related to the upgrade. Have you experienced any power shortage or crash?

Good luck.

As soon as possible do the following:

Download Recuva or PhotoRec (only one needed) and let it do an indepth recovery of deleted files on your computer. You may get a file containing some or all of your data (or not). Do this as a first priority; other use of the computer may overwrite any existing but deleted files and prevent their recovery. There is no guarantee that you will recover anything useful.

Do the above soonest! Do not wait for anything else - there is little prospect of recovering anything from your file, so do this NOW!
