Clear list

i hit the clear list button and all my documents disappeared, where are they

Still on your computer, but not in the recently used file list any more as you have cleared that.


Use File|Open...

You might try starting OpenOffice (from the Start or Programs menu, not from an icon or file list) then use File > Open ... to get to your file. You'll need to know what folder to look in.

If your system has a file search or file locator feature, you may be able to type in part of the file name to locate the file, then launch OO from that.
