Lost Text documents when saved it under another file name

I inadvertently saved a text document under the wrong file now I've lost that file. When I click on the file name I get the file that I had waved by mistake. Is there anyway I can retrieve the lost file?

Have you done a search for the original file? Did you open this file as an email attachment? Did you use File-->Save or File-->Save As?
