[Solved] Saving Window Size and Position
[Solved] Saving Window Size and Position
I am not able to save the size and position of a window when closing a file (I am sure previously this was save when the file was saved). Can someone please assist?

Re: Saving Window Size and Position
Have you entered your name in /Tools/ Options /OpenOffice : User data? This at least will cause your documents to open at the last edit position.

I had information entered, and have re-entered it, but the problem remains.RoryOF wrote:Have you entered your name in /Tools/ Options /OpenOffice : User data? This at least will cause your documents to open at the last edit position.

Try resetting the user profile and then re-enter the personal information.

Re: Saving Window Size and Position
I have reset my profile and this does give me a window positioned better than the one I was stuck with before. Unfortunately resizing it is not saved. I could not carry out the instructions under the paragraph "Still not fixed" as the files "extensions.pmap" and "extensions.db" do not exist on my system.jrkrideau wrote:Try resetting the user profile and then re-enter the personal information.

Can anyone help?
It is also not now saving all the files I open, in the recently opened files list.

Several years later and I am still trying unsuccessfully to make this happen.

Re: Saving Window Size and Position
I was having a problem with the window size being remembered on Windows 10, using a 4k monitor. After resizing and working on a spreadsheet, then saving it, the window size would revert to the smaller size, the next time the app was launched.
What worked for me was to launch the OpenOffice main menu - soffice.exe - then resize and position that main menu window (not a document or spreadsheet etc.) as I wished it to appear in future. After using then closing OpenOffice, the window size when next launching OpenOffice (or just opening e.g. a saved spreadsheet), is now as I previously set it.
I don't know if this solution works on earier versions of OO or other operating systems, but it may be worth trying!

Re: [Solved] Saving Window Size and Position
It also works when you close the last document without closing the whole application (there are then 2 close icons top right of the window). Then close the application.
I often use a 2nd screen with my laptop and sometimes, it reverts to the laptop screen even if it was set to open on the 2nd screen. No big deal, redo the close operation on the correct screen.
