Post by liaide »

I have gone through troubleshooting and also removed and re downloaded open office but still same problem. Spell check places squiggly red lines under all text whether correct or not. Only suggestion for everything is Ed. *Please help me.*

You should start by deleting or renaming your OpenOffice user profile. If you are using Windows do this by:
Close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File Explorer. Copy and paste %appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer Address Bar and press Enter. Rename the "user" folder. Start OpenOffice.

Thanks for the quick response. Not sure where Quickstarter is? Where is Open File Explorer?

File Explorer is the name of the file manager in Windows 8 and 10. In Vista and Windows 7, it's Windows Explorer.

The Address Bar is the box to the left of the Search Box in Windows/File Explorer. Make sure that you put the address %appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the Address Bar. not the Search Box. When you paste or type an address in the Address Bar, the Address Bar becomes active and pressing Enter moves to the address. In this case, the address is where the user folder is located. The Search Box looks for file/folder names, not addresses.
