[Solved] Can't attach documents to email
[Solved] Can't attach documents to email
Our email provider is Sasktel.net that we access inline
We can attach pictures from our pictures folder
Documents that are typed on open office and stored in the documents folder will not attach.
Any suggestions?

Re: can't attach documents to email
Hi and welcome to the forum!
Do you save in native ODF (.odt/.ods/...)?
It may be a problem with the mail server.

Yes I do.
How do you save it as something else?

What size are the files? Many e-mail providers limit the size of the attachments, so I'm wondering if your files might be too big.
You'll have to check with your provider for details as to what the attachment size limit (if any) is.

No the files aren't big. I have a feeling it might be the type of file I save it in. I converted a file from ODS to Microsoft word and sent it to someone. Am waiting for a response to see if they got it.

If your email is web based AOO may not work with it. You may need to use something like Thunderbird.

Re: Can't attach documents to email
I tested a document by changing it from ods to Word and sent it. That seemed to solve the problem.
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.

Re: Can't attach documents to email
Personally I have problems with the fact that it sounds like your e-mail provider is restricting what can and can't be sent based on file type.
Your e-mail provider should send what ever attachment you want to attach, though sometimes limiting the size due to bandwidth and storage requirements.

Maybe it is a simple settings problem at the provider ( I can not imagine, that provider not enable attach the International Standard fileformats!) ((Except, if it is that provider closely related to the M$Our email provider is Sasktel.net

+1. That's what I thought first. In such case, you can also zip the file before sending (it won't reduce the size since ODF is already zipped) but it will act as a container to cheat the mail server.RusselB wrote:Personally I have problems with the fact that it sounds like your e-mail provider is restricting what can and can't be sent based on file type.

However, this is something you should discuss with your mail provider. ODF is definitively a format it should accept.
Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the edit button if your issue has been fixed.
