Crashing

Post by Larry1700 »

My Open Office spreadsheet files are crashing every time I open them. I have to go through the "recovery" process to work. Anyone else have this problem? Thank you.

You can try to reset your OpenOffice user profile.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the edit button if your issue has been fixed.

Hagar Delest: Thank you for replying but I am a very LOW tech guy. I am using Windows 8. This problem of crashing only happens when I use the "find" feature after I hit "enter." I could not follow your instructions about going to Explorer. When I clicked on the "tools" icon, I did not see anything which said Folder and Search Options or Folder Options.

Don't know anything about Windows 8 but I guess there is somewhere a search feature. Try to type %appdata% then click "Roaming".

Sorry to hi-jack this thread but I have the same problem with crashing.

It is happening in the presentation part of OpenOffice and every time I try to move onto another slide it crashes but wont let me do anything with it.

I have tried a re-install but nothing works... any ideas?

Kind of urgent, I have a presentation I need to prepare today

Many thanks

I have been a user of Open Office for a few years and never had a problem till now. I purchased a new computer with Window 8.1 and download OpenOffice 4.1.1. It keeps freezing when using the spread sheet. I have spent hours searching the internet and tried numerous things to solve the problem but nothing helps.

Can anyone help?

I think that something in Window 8 kicks off OpenOffice. All these reports come from Windows 8 users and the problems go away when starting Window 8 in safe mode (which indicates that this is not a problem with OpenOffice alone).
Try http://libreoffice.org/ and don't forget to tell us if this office suite runs well on Windows 8.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

Downloaded libreoffic and it seems to work so far but at times when using the different tools it takes a bit and says (not responding) but at least it does not freeze for long periods of time.

I have something like this. When opening a macro (in base) for editing oo starts with the recovering process. After that I can edit macros.

I have a similar problem except I uninstalled Open Office on my Windows 8.1 but I still get the Wings saying that it has crashed.
