[Solved] OO 4.1.0 will not install on Windows 7 Pro
[Solved] OO 4.1.0 will not install on Windows 7 Pro
I uninstalled an earlier version of OpenOffice and am trying to install OO 4.1.0 on my Windows 7 Pro system
Midway thru the installation a popup window with Big Yellow Explanation Mark and "Object does not exist" message. Closing that popup, then Installation Wizard gives message that Installation could not be completed, to click on Finish, and rerun setuo. I have repeated this 6 times to no avail.
Any tips would be most welcome.

Re: OO 4.1.0 will not install on Windows 7 Pro
Go to Windows Update and uninstall update KB2918614, reboot, then install. This update seems to have broken the Windows installer.

Your suggestion worked. I had even tried to install LibreOffice 4.3.0.4 and had the same problem. After your fix, I was also able to install the LO.
Should I now rerun the Update KB2918614 to implement any other Security fixes?
Thanks again.

You might want to check the details of that update to see if any of the security fixes (I use the term loosely) actually affect you.
If you feel that this is not something you are capable of handling on a technical basis, create a Restore Point before running the update again, just in case.

I hid the update so it would not reinstall. If you do reinstall then the Windows installer will not work again.

Re: [Solved] OO 4.1.0 will not install on Windows 7 Pro
After I deleted the KB2919614 Update and successfully installed OO 4.1.0, Microsoft pushed me an August 12, 2014 Update for the KB2919614 which is a update on the original April 2014 version. It automatically installed and I will keep it in as long as no problems occur.

The OO 4.1.0 appears to be functioning properly. I'll let you know if any problems appear.

FYI, the August update disabled the Windows installer on my Windows 7 machine but did not on any of my Windows 8 machines.

Re: [Solved] OO 4.1.0 will not install on Windows 7 Pro
Had similar problem in that "Object already exists" message popped up during update to 4.1.1. I did KB2918614 uninstall, OpenOffice install, and auto updates did the KB2918614 re-install. The updated version of 4.1.1 appears to be working fine. Problem occurred on Windows 7 Pro with service Pack 1 installed.
To find it I had to select Control Panel | Program and Features | View Installed Updates. I did a search in the upper right hand corner for KB2918614. I right clicked on the updated and selected uninstall. I then installed Open Office version 4.1.1 before auto updates could re-install KB2918614. I allowed auto-updates to re-install KB2918614.

Re: [Solved] OO 4.1.0 will not install on Windows 7 Pro
I received the same install message on Windows 7 Home Premium. Furthermore, when I tried to reinstall a previous version I received the same message. I looked for the referenced Windows Update, and it does not exist on my Home version of Windows. So I am now without any spreadsheet or word processor.
Could this be a registry issue? If so, I need help in resolving that.

Do you mean that it is not installed on your system? Have you tried to install it? Don't know if you can force the installation of a Windows update.AccountantBob wrote:I looked for the referenced Windows Update, and it does not exist on my Home version of Windows.

Re: [Solved] OO 4.1.0 will not install on Windows 7 Pro
Do you have Windows Update disabled or is the computer not connected to the Internet? If you have automatic updating enabled, you should have the update unless you removed it. It was installed on my Windows 8 system 15 Aug 2014.AccountantBob wrote:I looked for the referenced Windows Update, and it does not exist on my Home version of Windows.
How did you look for the update on your system?

I looked in Control Panel, All Control Panel Items, Programs and Features, Installed Updates; and it was not there. On 4/14/2014 there is a KB2918077, and then the next one is KB2919469. It simply is not there. The problem is obviously something different. And no, I have not removed any updates.
What could it be?

You might try updating Windows. There have been many updates since 4/14/2014. You might also run the System File Checker to see if any system files need repair. If you need instructions, try a Google search or look for instruction videos on YouTube.AccountantBob wrote:I looked in Control Panel, All Control Panel Items, Programs and Features, Installed Updates; and it was not there. I have no idea what else might be causing the problem. There haven't been any reports about that error other than the ones which have appeared since the August Windows updates, and I have never experienced this error.
