[Solved] How to close quickstarter

Post by darkveil »

I can't install Open Office 4.1.0, it says 'close Open Office and quickstarter before continuing'. I closed them both, cannot find any quickstarter in the Taskmanager and still I cannot install the upgrade. Anyone an idea how to solve this problem?

In the TaskManager the QuickStarter shows up as an instance of soffice. Delete all soffice instances in TM's Processes tab and exit. all should now be well for an install.

I'm sorry, but there is no sign of soffice to be found in the Taskmanager. Can something else be the trouble?

In TaskManager (I'm working from memory) at the bottom of the Processes window I think there is a "view processes from all users" switch.

Try repairing your current version of AOO, then install AOO 4.1.

The "close AOO & quickstarter message" appears when trying to uninstall the current version. You can't install the new version before the current version is uninstalled.

To repair the current version, run its installation file and select the repair option.

Thanks for this tip - Repairing my installation of 4.1.3 enabled me to install 4.1.4.

For me, closing Chrome (suggested in http://ooo-forums.apache.org/en/forum/v ... 15&t=67868) was the answer to getting 4.1.4 installed when encountering this error. No soffice processes were active of any kind. A repair install of 4.1.3 would fail with the same error -- unless, weirdly, I left 'place start icon on desktop' checked. The repair install did not change the presence of the "please close..." dialog from the 4.1.4 installer.
