Read-error. Format error discovered in the file in sub-docum

Post by okjhum »

I'm using v. 2.0.2, English version on Win XP sp2
I got a "read-error". Can't find this topic in the web site. I was writing an odt document with lots of jpg pictures and mixed Japanese and Swedish text with "Rubies" text added. Afraid of losing something, I almost manically save as soon as I have made some changes, about every minute or so. Then suddenly I couldn't save any more, but got this message, "Read-error. Format error discovered in the file in sub-document content.xml at 2,79540 (row, col)." So I just closed it without saving, confident that I would have lost at most only a couple of minutes' work. Then restarted the program, but couldn't open the document. Then restarted the computer, but still couldn't open the document!! Catastrophe. A whole day's worth of hard work. :-( Is there a way of retrieving it?? Please help! /Olle from Sweden

You probably can get it all back quite quickly. This error happens if a file becomes corrupt. I've never had it happen to me but it's lucky that ODF is open as it allows you to fix the error. These topics may help you:

Have a google for "Format error discovered in the file in sub-document" and you'll find lots of other topics.
