[Solved] OpenOffice.org documents won't open

Last night while trying to open a document I got a message that OOO had crashed and the following documents would be revived (or some such word). There were no documents listed in the box. I didn't think much about it, but this morning when I went to open some OO documents that I use a lot, they would not open. I did not get any message about why they would not open. Should I re-download OOO? What happened?

If you are using Window 7 with Internet Explorer 9 installed on it, you have two choices:
Remove IE9 (IE8 is autorestored)
or do a repair installation on OpenOffice and tell it _not_ to autocheck for updates.

It may also help to delete or rename your User Profile

I am using Explorer 9. I would like to do a repair installation on Open Office, but am not sure how to do this.

Just run the install file again, after a while you will be prompted what you want to do: a completely new install, a repair install, and some other option that I have forgotten.

I have tried to do the repair install. However, I get the message "Exit OpenOffice.org 3.3 and the OO.org 3.3 quick starter before you continue. When I click on OK, I get another message tdhat the wizard has been interrupted and the installation has not been completed. I have done this a couple of times.

In the System Tray, usually bottom right of screen, you should see a little icon (blue, with two white seagulls, I think). Right click on that and select Exit. This closes the Quickstarter. Alternately press Ctrl Alt Del and start Task Manager and kill any sOffice processes shown on the Processes tab (ignore warnings of doom!). Then try to reinstall OpenOffice,

I am not sure what I did, other than install and reboot. Now it all seems to be working. Thanks for all the suggestions.
