I want to the 12 hour clock [8:00 PM] but when I change the format to 12 hours, it reverts back to the 24 hour clock when I make the next entry, both in Calc and in Writer tables. How do I get the default to stick?
Thank you.

Re: 24 hour clock
Sorry, there's no way to change the default format for the various data types. Calc will always use its internal defaults unless you specifically set some particular format on the cell.
That said, for me, Calc defaults to showing times as 12-hour (1:00 PM instead of 13:00), so maybe I'm not understanding your situation correctly.

Re: 24 hour clock
in calc, if you format a column as HH:MM AM/PM, from in the time formats, then any time values you enter come out as 12 hour time. so if you enter 15:15 it shows as 3:15 PM
You can do the same in writer if you first go to tools>options>LibreOffice Writer>Table and select number recognition and number format recognition. Now if you select all the cells in a column and format them as 12 hour time it all works
(at least it does for me, so long as you don't leave any blank lines between entries in the writer table)
