[Issue] Caught unexpected exception error

Post by todd@livetime.com »

Open Office 3.3 Fatal Error
[context="bundled"] caught unexpected exception!

Any ideas?

Yes I already:
*Uninstalled and reinstalled after removal of install
*Redownloaded
*Installed to the desktop
*made sure I was the admin

This is nuts! I have already blown almost 4 hours on this...

Thanks in advance!

Use Revo Uninstaller Free to completely remove the old install. Use the most aggressive settings. Download a fresh install to make sure that the file is not corrupted.

Could be almost any thing. Not an unusual problem.

I am using roaming profile with redirected folder.
I got it working as a work around by:
Do a "Run as" on Open office as a Local Admin >
Then copy that local admins "OpenOffice.org" folder from the Application data folder >
Dump it on the redirect application data folder for the user account its not working for >
Then try using Open Office and you will get a warning, Just say yes >
It it works.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I am having the same problem as described above, but I am not computer-savvy enough to properly understand what "ithelp" is suggesting (I am savvy enough to not poke around in the guts of the computer on my own though!).

I was happily using OpenOffice 3.2.x two hours ago and it offered me the chance to upgrade, so I said yes.

Got the same problem as described above.

Tried re-installing it.
Tried deleting it and everything associated with it
Did the Revo Installer Free thing
Re-booted it between each attempt
In other threads on similar issues I have found a suggestion that I should locate my personal details (generated by Open Office) and held in C:\Document and Settings\My Username\Open Office - this folder doesn't exist, so I can't delete it!
I've even tried talking to the computer "politely".

This is a networked machine, running XP. As far as I am aware I have local admin rights and can install anything I want - never been stopped yet.

My problem is twofold currently.

1. I need an office suite that functions and can't find anyone still offering 3.2.x. Any suggestions on where to look?

2. I can't make 3.3 work. Instructions at noddy-level please.

Many thanks in advance

Many thanks.

Reading the Bug report mentioned far above I think I understand this problem to currently be "a feature". Is this about where it's at?

Why filehippo is a well known site for older versions?

The OOo archives site isn't any better than FileHippo for older versions for Windows . It's much easier to find than the OOo archive site.

I'm having the very same problem...only my error reads: {Content="shared"] Caught unexpected exception error!

Are you suggesting we downgrade to one of the older versions?
