OpenOffice does not open

Java and OpenOffice have been downloaded but I cannot get OpenOffice to open when I click on it from my programs in the start menu. Any suggestions?

What OS? Seems to be Windows, if so, which version?

I'm having the same problem. If I reboot my computer, it works fine. However, after several days of Hibernating and then going back out of hibernation, none of the openoffice programs will open (directly or by double-clicking the file). There is some hard drive activity initially as if the program is preparing to open, but nothing happens after that.

I'm using Windows XP Professional
Version 5.1.2600
Service Pack 2
Build 2600

Emachines Model W4605
I'm thinking that this is OO.O version 2.3

Not sure if Hibernating has anything to do with it. Just figured I'd add that in case it does. Any help would be appreciated.

Is the Quickstarter enabled? If so, shut it off. It may improve the situation. On recent machines, it's not so necessary. I find it not robust enough and I deactivate it systematically.
