On 1/5/2006, Microsoft released Security Update for Windows XP (KB912919). This update provided a patch to make the WMF file format safe from viruses. It was designed for all versions of Windows XP with Service Pack 2.

It appears that the patch no longer works properly with the most recent Windows software updates. I added the patch, and it screwed up Java. When I tried to install OOo, I got this error message:

Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'cli_cppuhelper,publicKeyToken="ce2cb7e279207b9e",version=1.0.11.0",culture="neutral"'. Please refer...

OOo halted installation and rolled everything back to the pre-installed state.

When I removed the patch and reinstalled Java, OOo installed OK.

I just wanted to warn others about this issue.

Thanks for this. If you don't mind, I've flagged you post as a "Tip". [Admins and moderators can do that :-)]
