Looking for freelance research/testing for doc rendering

Post by bizmarx »

Hi,

We're looking for a freelancer (preferably in the SF Bay Area, though that's not necessary) who can help us find an efficient way to rapidly render .doc and .docx files with 99% fidelity to MS Word 2007/2010's rendering.

We have had some success with OpenOffice, but haven't been able to get all the way there. We've tried Aspose, but their java libraries don't seem to be fully functional yet.

It's possible that OpenOffice might not be the best solution here, but we're looking for someone to look into available solutions (or into partial solutions that could be pieced together), test them out, and give us some recommendations. We can provide a small set of test documents.

Depending on how that first task goes, there may also be a second project. We will have users looking at images of pages of the document and indicating what changes they would like made (e.g., striking out a number of words to indicate deletion). We will need to be able to make those changes in the underlying document itself, based off the location in the image that the user has selected. This will take a number of steps, and may ultimately require OCR, but we're looking for research, testing and recommendations on that as well.

If you think you might be interested, please reply here and let me know how to get in touch with you.

Thanks!
