Education Project presents OOo4Kids

Post by ericb »

Hi,

As you probably know, the OpenOffice.org Education Project aims to create a bridge between Educational world an OpenOffice.org, through several actions. One of the results is OOo4Kids : http://wiki.ooo4kids.org

Download : http://download.ooo4kids.org

Disclaimer: this is a light version of OpenOffice.org, running on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux, who aims to explain the students learning OOo source code, how to hack, modify and so on. Means there is no Java nor Base, and if you need them, please use OpenOffice.org instead.

Some new features are scheduled, and if the code worth it, a backport will be proposed into OpenOffice.org.

Anyway, any help and contribution (see http://http://download.ooo4kids.org/en/Donate ) are welcome :)

Hi,

FYI, Jean-Marie Lafon and Ben Bois (OOo4Kids designer) have made a video presenting OOo4Kids 0.5.1, a light OpenOffice.org dedicated to the 7-12, and who aims to make students discover and learn OpenOffice.org source code.

Sorry, the video is in french, but an english version will be proposed soon. Nevertheless, it looks promising :-)
