So how do you think we're doing?

Post by TerryE »

Well we are one month in from Go-live. I did some basic stats just to see how we are performing at the moment, and compared them against OOoForum — really just as a normalisation baseline saying as OOoF is probably still the leading OOo Forum by post volumes:

Code: Select all

                  usOOo OOoF
Uptime 31 1,841
Last Topic 951 6,6931 (+)
Last Post 3,801 267,360 (+)
#Users 1,400 60,864 (+)
Topics / Day (*) 22.5 33.2
Posts / Day (*) 95.7 125.5
Unanswered 6 % 18 %

Notes
(*) Averaged over last week
(+) These OOoF are inflated by SPAM entries (~20% of posts; 50% of users)
Given that we are only a month in we have now stabilised and have a sound daily transactional rate. Clearly the forum lacks the depth of knowledge in OOoForum but as user service, I think that we seem to be bedding down well.
Drew and I have been focused on the stability of the new system. We've already done one system upgrade, and our abandoned registration rate (that is user who cannot log on or do not activate there accounts) is running at 3% if we exclude the initial start-up week. The major reason for such abandoned registrations seems to be inbound SPAM filters on the user's end removing the user activation message!

So "whereto" next? I would like to see other feedback and comment, because the Admin team is going to have to start thinking about our New Year resolutions!
Ubuntu 11.04-x64 + LibreOffice 3 and MS free except the boss's Notebook which runs XP + OOo 3.3.

Well, it's not so bad I guess.
I'll try to help keeping the forum as 'clean' as possible to make it easy for new users to get the most relevant information.

Here are some stats also.

Just thought I would add one more metric here

Average new members per day - For the period 12/12 - 12/19 = 31.38

Assuming no increase in rate that would put us at 14,274 by the end of 2008.

Judging purely by impressions, the forum seems to have got off to a flying start. Many of oooforum's members don't count. My guess is that active membership is not greatly different even at this early stage. Of course, the active membership may not be as active yet.
