Tutorials management

Some tutorials are popping up in the forum like in the Writer section.

I've changed them to stickies. But if their numbers increase, I guess we'll have to create a dedicated sub-forum, do you agree ?

Also, do we lock them or not ? If it's lock, can the author still edit his post in case there is a modification to be made ? If so, locking them could help keeping the tutos 'clean' of any discussion.

What's wrong with discussion under a tutorial?

Long thread tends to rebute new users I guess (oh no, all that text to read to make that thing works !). And very often, the user has missed something because he's skimmed the post instead of reading it carefully.

But that's my opinion only, that's why I ask you what do you think about it.

Ahh, good point.

Well, I can see some value in a discussion thread for tutorials, but maybe it would be best to keep it separate.

That's what I think. Keeping the discussion in a separate thread doesn't pollute the tutorial for others. But that's also why the original poster has to be able to edit the locked post in case there are modifications to be made.

OK, no problem for me. Just ring us if there is some action to be taken we had not seen.

Edit : why not add the code to make it more easy for user who would just have to copy and paste :

Code: Select all
