That's the route that I've taken for now, as it seems preferable to potentially losing the images forever. The formatting also looks better with the smaller image, but my guess is that allowing a larger inline image size would solve some problems. Maybe 1024 pixels high, by half the forum width wide (maximum).

I rather liked the light colours - with the dark blue it gets a little too loud.
