Youtube mod
Youtube mod
I can see many people in favour and some not so much. However given the huge ammount of youtube tutorial on Open/LibreOffice it makes sense to have an easy way to link to them without throwing the reader to a different site.

Re: Youtube mod
I fear that it would attract more spammers.

Re: Youtube mod
It would certainly make spam detection harder - you'd have to check that the video is really what the submitter claims it to be. If it's preceded by an advertisement that will mean an extra waste of time. But that in itself could well be a kind of spamming, even if the video itself is a (harmless and rather useless) tutorial uploaded merely to get money for the advertisement.Hagar Delest wrote:I fear that it would attract more spammers.

Re: Youtube mod
I see the point, but then again we could deliver better help/support.
I also havent seen any image spam, which could arguably attract advertisers.

You might enable it for trusted users - volunteers for example.

Re: Youtube mod
Yes, if the bbcode can be activated on a user/group level, it's fine.

Re: Youtube mod
Is there an OO channel on youtube? We could link to that here in the tutorials section.

Re: Youtube mod
Channels on youtube work on a funny way, used to be groups, then there are autogenerated-chanels as a "query-channel". I don't think the community has enough "community" to support and maintain a channel. And also channels work a bit funny as a Knowledge base.
There are also playlists, a time ago, I was thinking on creating a 'master class' for openoffice, but I realize that the timing of the video needed more work as +1hr videos are a bit too exhausting to follow.
Modular 3-5min videos work best and I think the forum can encourage either promotion or creation of this small clips.

Re: Youtube mod
Maybe I'm wrong (don't know if there is a mod for that too), but AFAIK that's not possible. You can enable or disable bbcode as a whole for a group, but not single instructions.Hagar Delest wrote:Yes, if the bbcode can be activated on a user/group level, it's fine.
There are two types of people: those who believe that there are two types of people and those who do not.
