Pardon my ignorance...but I have been unable to locate a difinitive answer to the question..."Do I get an email notification if someone posts a reply to my query?" I don't have time to stay online waiting for a response. Thanks.

Yes - there is an option to turn that off, but the default is yes. The email will be sent to the same address as that used for the confirmation message your received.
