POLL : Quote-logo visible when NOT logged in ?

Post by henke54 »

The 'quote-logo' on a particular message isn't visible when i am not logged in... so, when i want to answer on a message before i was logged in, i 'have to search a bit' where that particular message-part was after i logged in then...maybe not for anyone else, but for me... seems a bit 'annoying' ... :ouch:

I clicked on the reply button, logged in, scrolled a little bit down and hit the quote button in the history record of this topic. From that place you may also select a part of some preceeding message and hit the quote button which gives:

That also makes it easy to quote from different posts when responding. Just scroll down toeach post in the list and click the quote button, and the quote is inserted in your response.

I know, but if you want to reply on a rather long topic with several messages on one page, that 'a bit scrolling' becomes 'a bit searching' to me ...but nevermind ....just want to say something...
P.S. : maybe something for TerryE to read :

Just for the record, I don't know if you had noticed but it can spare some time: just highlight the string you want to quote and hit the quote button, it avoids having the whole post quoted. Works when you do that from the full editor view in the posts in the lower area.

Is there a compelling reason to read the forum without first logging in?

I virtually always log in first, even if I don't intend to post anything, because my primary interests here all require being logged in. I understand that others may not want/need to log in first, but it seems like an easy workaround.

By logging in, you can see the new posts very easily.
If you want to be unnoticed, there is an option to be hidden in the logged users list at bottom of page (but admins still can see you).
