FYI: website AIM link does not work

Post by MrKoch1900 »

When I click on my profile icon, then click on my AIM link, then click on the AIM Express link, it does not work. I suspect the link has changed from what this website uses and it just needs updated. Please tell me if I am wrong.

phpBB generates an aim link for AOL instant messenger, in your case
  • aim:goim?screenname=mrkoch1900&message=OpenOffice.org+Community+Forum
If you don't have aim configured on your browser then this won't work. This is standard phpBB functionality.
Ubuntu 11.04-x64 + LibreOffice 3 and MS free except the boss's Notebook which runs XP + OOo 3.3.

This is correct. The link you describe is for "Send Message" and I did not have a problem with it. I had a problem with the link for "AIM Express"--a different link. AIM does not need to be installed for AIM Express, and the link is likely static in phpBB (sorry I'm not an expert here). The bad link (http://aimexpress.oscar.aol.com/aimexpr ... ?Brand=AIM) could be replaced by the following from AIM's website: http://o.aolcdn.com/aim/gromit/aim_expr ... tMain.html.
