Search ignores quotes

I was trying to find out whether OOo will display two spreadsheets side by side like MS excel. When I tried searching on "side by side" it ignores the quotation marks and hence drops the 'by' and just searches for 'side'. Obviously the results are useless. Could the search function allow the use of quotation marks so that phrases can be searched for?

The forum's search function is very limited and I'm not aware of any plan to change it.
